Formula: Base rate × engagement multiplier × niche multiplier × content type
How Are These Rates Calculated?
This calculator uses a CPM (Cost Per Mille) model — the industry standard for media pricing. CPM represents what an advertiser pays per 1,000 impressions. Each platform has a different CPM benchmark: YouTube commands the highest ($20/1K followers) due to its long-form intent, while Twitter/X sits at the low end ($4/1K) owing to shorter shelf life. Instagram and LinkedIn occupy the mid-high range at $12 and $15 respectively.
Engagement rate is then applied as a multiplier because a post that actually generates reactions is worth more to a brand than one that gets ignored. A creator with a 6%+ engagement rate has an audience that’s actively paying attention — that trust transfers to brand recommendations. Conversely, a sub-1% ER signals an audience that’s largely passive, which reduces the effective value of each post. The calculator adjusts your base rate up or down accordingly.
Niche matters because brand budgets in different verticals vary dramatically. Finance and business brands operate with high LTV customers and large acquisition budgets — they pay more per post. Entertainment brands compete for attention with a broader audience but lower product margins, which is reflected in below-average multipliers. Your niche isn’t just your topic; it’s your audience’s purchasing intent, and that’s what drives advertiser CPMs.
Rate Benchmarks by Follower Tier

Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate is this calculator?
This calculator uses industry CPM benchmarks to produce a data-driven estimate. Actual rates can vary based on brand budget, the creator–brand relationship, campaign scope, exclusivity terms, and usage rights. Think of it as a strong starting point for your rate conversation — not an absolute ceiling.
Should I charge more for exclusivity or usage rights?
Yes, absolutely. Category exclusivity — where you agree not to post for competing brands — should add 20–50% to your base rate, depending on the duration and category breadth. Extended usage rights, such as a brand running your content as a paid ad or using it in their own channels, should add 25–100% on top. Unlimited usage rights should always sit at the high end of that range.
What if a brand offers less than my rate?
Negotiation is normal — a first offer is rarely a brand’s final number. Counter with your rate, explain the value (your ER, niche authority, audience trust), and offer alternatives: a smaller deliverable package at their budget, or a lower rate in exchange for no exclusivity and no usage rights. If the gap is too wide, it’s often better to decline than to undercut yourself. See our Rate Card for scripts and tiered pricing to present confidently.
